But my child is not hyperactive.
This is why the term is so confusing!
In a diagnosis, the doctor will either keep the hyperactive part in or take it out.
The diagnosis looks something like this:
Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder: Inattentive sub-type at the severe level
(individual displays no hyperactivity)
or
Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder: Combined sub-type at the severe level
(individual presents with hyperactivity)

My child moves and fidgets all the time. Why?
To get their brain working and to feel better!
Movement actually helps them calm down and focus.
A good rule to follow is that 15 minutes of exercise will create approximately 45 minutes of increased attention.

How often do we need to meet?
ADHD is unique to the individual, and so are my sessions. I work with my clients as they need me and we restructure sessions as needed.
Some of my clients need a bit of structure a few days per week. We may schedule a couple of 30 minute sessions a few times a week.
Some clients only need a few minutes of coaching, but more often. We may meet for 15 minutes, 3 times per week.
Some clients need email reminders to stay on task alongside longer sessions in order to ensure that we are on the right track. I may email them a number of times a week, then meet every other week for a full hour.
Some clients like regular check-ins, so we meet weekly for an hour.
We can discuss what works best for you.

What is the ultimate goal of coaching?
I get to work myself out of a job, which makes me extraordinarily happy!
As the coaching proceeds, I will be asking you tons of questions. We will deconstruct organizational processes, thought processes, emotional processes, and slow down some of those racing thoughts for you.
We will brainstorm and put into place some new procedures for you. Some will work, some will not. We will post-mortem all that we put into place, find out what works and what does not and discover what is next.
We will celebrate your successes and work through the challenges.
Eventually, you will hear my voice in your head. You will start to anticipate my questions and work things through for yourself.
Ultimately, your executive functions will improve and you won't need coaching as regularly, perhaps only occasionally, or maybe not at all.
